My photo
My name is Frances Rose Agnes Napper aka SmileyRose. I am a friendly and fun loving individual. I like meeting new/old friends. Although I love being with friends, I also enjoy my own space from time to time. I have a number of hobbies. I enjoy taking photographs, going to the theatre, travel (visiting new and exciting places), reading, films and listening to music. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I particularly enjoy it when we all get together. I was a full-time mother for both of my daughters and I did not go back to work until they both reached primary school age. The UK has a lot to offer because there are so many picturesque places to visit. I particularly enjoy the British countryside. My home town was in Stamford, Lincolnshire although I am currently living in Peterborough. My Father was a serving member of the RAF. I'd consider myself well travelled from a very early age (6 months old). Divorced - for 10yrs. Currently single. I am interested in meeting nice folk only. :) Star sign - Leo the Lion. Birthday -July 29th. That's me in a nutshell. :)

Sitting Down And Relaxing

Ah this is the life! :) This is a lovely holiday. I have a slice of carrot cake and a cup of tea. My feet are up and I'm watching the TV.

Hmmm David Cameron is just being interviewed. As they arrive the Abbey Samantha looks lovely in her green Burberry dress. David and Victoria Beckham are seated at the Abbey. Wow! There are a lot of hats. Ah I can see Guy Ritchie. Oh and in walks Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish. John and Norma Major have arrived. Lady Thatcher could not attend the wedding because she is unwell.

There are about 5000 Policeman working/lining the route today.

I love the red carpet which has been laid at the abbey. The avenue of trees looks fabulous!

They're interviewing the hairdressers now. They look a little under pressure but excited just the same. Let's hope they get the hair right for the day. :)

I can't see the sunshine yet....but at least it is not raining. :)

What a magnificent show of flags.

Ah the Household cavalry, the lifeguards and The Blues and Royals all look very smart as they mount their horses. They apparently started preparing for the day this morning at 4am.

Wow! There are crowds and crowds of folk looking very excited.

There are a number of representatives from the commonwealth countries...around 50 dignitaries.

It has been revealed that the Royal couple will become The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge following their wedding. :)

We are just waiting for Prince William and Prince Harry (The best man) to emerge from Clarence House. Crowds are chanting "We want Wills" lovely. :)

Here they are! Prince William and Prince Harry emerge. Prince William is wearing red the uniform of The Colonel of The Irish Guards. Prince Harry of course is wearing The Blues and Royals uniform. They're making their way down the mall with crowds of folk cheering them on. Now there's a better view of the brothers as they enter the abbey. Prince William is wearing his RAF wings too. He looks very dashing. :)

The bride’s mother and her brother James are just about to arrive at the abbey. The brides mother Carol looking lovely. She's wearing a grey blue dress and hat designed by Catherine Walker and she looks stunning. :)

Some members of the Royal family are arriving in small silver mini buses. Prince Andrew and his daughters, Prince Edward and his wife arrive at the Abbey. Princess Ann looks rather lovely in her purple floral outfit. :)

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are now driving down the mall travelling in a Rolls Royce.:) I love the champagne coloured dress designed by A..Valentine. It is a very classic style. She looks stunning. The hat looks amazing. :)

The Queen and The Duke leave for the abbey. Wow! The Queen looks amazing in her canary yellow /gold outfit. She looks stunning and she is wearing a design by A. Pelley. :)

All of the bridesmaids look lovely as they arrive at the abbey. :)

Kate Middleton and her father Michael are just preparing for their journey to the abbey. I've just caught a quick glimpse of the brides dress. It looks rather lacy at the top and there looks to be a long train. :) The bride looks very radiant. Her hairstyle appears to look very natural, half up and half down. She's wearing a 1936 Cartier diamond "halo" tiara. It was borrowed from the Queen. She looks fabulous in her Sarah Burton by Alexander McQueen designed dress. Wow! She looks amazing. It's an ivory and satin dress with a modest train. It has a very lacy top with sleeves. The dress's lace design incorporates the rose, thistle, daffodil and the shamrock - the four floral emblems of the United Kingdom. The bridal bouquet was shield-shaped with sweet William, as well as myrtle, lily-of-the-valley and hyacinth flowers.

She's now walking down the very long aisle at the abbey looking magnificent. :)

11:18 am - Oooo Prince William has problems getting the ring on Kate's finger. :)

They're all singing "Love Divine"... It's a lovely hymn. :)

11:23am - The sun is shining. :)

James Middleton is now doing a reading. His reading is from a modern American version of the Bible, urging the royal couple to "associate with the lowly".

The choir sound fantastic as they sing "This Is the Day" :)

The Lord Bishop of London now speaks. :)

The choir now sing Ubi caritas et amor (where charity and love are)'s beautiful. :)

WHERE charity and love are, God is there.
Christ's love has gathered us into one.
Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him.
Let us fear, and let us love the living God.
And may we love each other with a sincere heart.

WHERE charity and love are, God is there.
As we are gathered into one body,
Beware, lest we be divided in mind.
Let evil impulses stop, let controversy cease,
And may Christ our God be in our midst.

WHERE charity and love are, God is there.
And may we with the saints also,
See Thy face in glory, O Christ our God:
The joy that is immense and good,
Unto the ages through infinite ages. Amen.

The congregation and choir are now singing one of my favourite hymns "Jerusalem" :)
....and now the British National Anthem :)

It's the signing of the register just to complete the marriage ceremony. :)

The fanfare play as the couple emerge after signing the register. They consist of Prince William's RAF comerades. :)

11:45 - The couple are about to walk back down the aisle of the abbey together as husband and wife. Awww. :)

The waiting crowds are cheering as the couple are now outside Westminster Abbey. They take their positions in their horse drawn carriage. The signal is given and the grand procession begins. There are 12 troopers of the blues and royals and a Captains escort. :)

The Scottish stagecoach is used for the Queens and the Dukes return journey to Buckingham Palace. :)

Now I am looking forward to the balcony kiss during an RAF flypast. It should be good. :)

The great bands are all playing as they all march down the mall. They sound remarkable. :)

The crowds get larger as they all congregate around the Queen Victoria Morial at Buckingham Palace. It looks amazing.

The Lancaster bomber flypast is on its way. The flight path will fly directly over Buckingham Palace. The crowds are chanting.

If I'd have been the Prince’s mother then I would have felt very proud indeed of this date. Prince William looked very dashing. RIP Diana, she is sadly missed.

Hugh Edwards did a very good commentary of the Royal Wedding. :)

13:20 - The newly married Royal couple have stepped out onto the balcony along with the members of the Royal family.  The couple kiss! They crowds shout with delight. Prince William blushes a little. Awww.

13:22 - Here it is. The flypast. The Lancaster Bomber flys over Buckingham Palace.....and there's a second kiss from the couple.  The flypast is amazing! Wow! :)...and now the Tornados and the Fighter Jets fly over Buckingham Palace. How lovely. :)

Best moment of the day: Prince William turns to his bride and whispers "You look beautiful" she arrives at his side. :)

I loved this too! :)

Royal Wedding Congratulations!

I'd just like to wish the happy couple a very happy day tomorrow. Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting married tomorrow morning....excitement! I'm sure the bride-to-be will look lovely on her wedding day. I can't wait to switch my TV on tomorrow morning to watch the wedding in the comfort of my own home. :)

Hmmm I wonder what Kate will be wearing? I'm picturing a very elegant bride. Perhaps it will be a less flouncy dress with a very long train. Maybe she'll have an elegant hairstyle perhaps it will be pinned up.

Ooo and I'm sure Prince William will look rather dashing. Perhaps he'll have his hair pinned up too. ;)

I hope the day is nice and sunny for them both. :)

Ps It does not seem all that long ago when I watched that other famous Royal Wedding and the 29th July was officially declared a holiday (on my birthday). It was the day Lady Diana and Prince Charles married. Wow! That time seems to have passed by quickly. :)

Personal Gripes!

If anyone has a personal gripe about me/my family re something then there is no point in writing about it on this blog site or signing it anonymously.  As far as I'm concerned anonymous writers here are not friends and the only folk I class as friends are those who write truthfully and politely as themselves or those who are friends in person rather than on the internet.

It is indeed fine to reply to posts on my blog site however you're likely to be a chicken if you have chosen to make sarcastic/nasty comments to any of the posts using an anonymous/unreal name. *Tuts*

Everything which I post on this site using the name SmileyRose/Frances Napper.... are all posted by my real name.

It Was Hot & Spicy

A friend recently made me a beef curry.  It was really quite hot and spicy but it tasted very nice indeed. :)

I'm not used to eating a hot curry, so I could feel myself becoming quite hot as I finished eating my dinner. It's much nicer when you have a tall glass of iced lemonade nearby. ;)

I later found out that it was a tinned curry made by Kanpur Gardens.....delicious just the same. ;)

Big thumbs up if you like it hot and spicy.:)

Awww how cute!

Hedgehogs are nocturnal, which means they sleep durning the day and forage at night. Hedgehogs roll into a ball and stick out their spikey quills for protection. Try not to agitate them as hedgehogs will jump and make clicking or huffing noises to ward off predators. :)

I Give Up!!! I'm Exhausted!!!

I tried sitting on it but it won't go back to its normal size again!  It popped out alright but it just doesn't want to fit into the bag again.  I'm exhausted.  It's far too springy!

I bought one of those spring out of the bag beach tents recently.  It's true to its word. When you pull it out of the bag it springs to attention. It's very quick to errect but you seem to spend far too much time trying to fold it up again and if you try pushing it back into the bag, it doesn't want to know.  Ewwww! Am I missing the point here?  How the heck am I supposed to get it back into the bag again? :(

I'm going to bed and I'll figure it out in the morning....after I get some sleep. :)

Next Day
I had another go today! It's easy when you know how! Mine is back in its bag. Yay! ;)

A Bun In The Oven

A four year old little girl was at the doctor's office with her mother in the waiting room when she spotted a pregnant lady on the other side of the room. Having nothing better to do, she walk over to her and inquisitively asks "Why is your stomach so big?"

She replied, "Im having a baby." With big eyes, she replied, "Is the baby in your stomach?" She said, "He sure is."

Then the little girl, with a puzzled look on her face, asked yet another question, "Is it a good baby?" She said, "Oh, yes. It's a really good baby." At this point the woman is thinking the little girl is incredibly cute and looks foward to what she has to say next...

And, much to her suprise, with an even more surprised and shocked look than before, she asks.. "Then why did you eat him?"

Ps  Before anyone jumps to any conclusions here....No! I have not eaten any babies! :)

A Lovely Weekend!

The weather was glorious for the entire bank holiday weekend. There was not a drop of rain in sight.  I spent Easter Sunday with family members and a visit from a friend. We had roast lamb which seemed to go down a treat with all.  There were lovely yummy Easter Eggs, they were yummy. ;)

I managed to get a bit of DIY finished in the garden...I'd been meaning to paint my fence for quite some time and I managed to get it finished.

Yesterday was spent having a day trip to Newmarket.  I have always wanted to visit.  I managed to visit the Newmarket National Horseracing Museum which incidentally our current Queen Elizabeth opened a few years ago. I was persuaded by one lovely gentleman to try on a jockey's racing silks with cap...I even have a photograph. ;) Hmm I wasn't brave enough to ride on the horse simulator. It looked a lot of fun only I was wearing a skirt so I didn't manage to experience what it was like to race a horse. This was ideal for kids who are wishing to experience just how much fun it is to saddle up and ride as if you're really racing. ;)   For those who have not been before, it is well worth a visit.  I managed to buy a special painting for myself. It was appropriately named 'Mothers Pride'.... and I love it! :)

Ps Hmmm what happened to the lovely weather?  Today seems rather cold and breezy. :(

If you could only drink one thing for a year and it couldn't be water, what would you drink?

Fresh Lemonade....or even better Fever-Tree Ginger Beer, it's the closest thing to how my grandmother used to make her Ginger Beer.   :)

Are you married?

No! :)

Could you/would you have a baby outside of marriage?

No I couldn't possibly.:) I suppose it is important to me to plan a family within marriage. I wouldn't want my children growing up thinking they were a mistake, although this isn't the case in some families as sometimes some folk plan to have children outside of marriage. I would prefer my children not to have any doubts though. Call me old fashioned...... :)

Sad News!

Comedy sitcom writer John Sullivan recently died at the age of 64 years old.  He was indeed one of my favourite writers.  He wrote the sitcom "Only Fools and Horses" which starred David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst. In my opinion this is probably one of the funniest TV comedies ever.

Britain has probably lost one its greatest comedy writers ever. He certainly had the ability to make me cry with laughter.  I haven't yet come across another male comedy writer who can make me laugh out loud as much as John Sullivan did. He will be sadly missed by me and there'll be no more "Lovely jubblies" anymore. :(

Does anyone remember Elisebeth Sladen? She starred in the spin-off series The Sarah Jane Adventures. She first came to fame when she starred as Dr Who's companion back in the 1970's.  She has died aged 63 years old. :(

The Scottish Highlands

One of the most beautiful places ever is of course the Scottish Highlands particularly when the weather is good. :) The last time I visited was a good number of years ago when we stopped off at The Lake District en-route to Scotland. Our next stop was Fort William, Scotland. We stayed here for a few days before continuing our journey. It was an absolutely picturesque and beautiful part of the world. Then it was onwards to a little place called Tomich in the Scottish Highlands not too far away from Inverness. It is indeed one of the most beautiful and scenic places in the United Kingdom.

Unfortunately I do not have any updated photographs; however I hope to visit again some day. :)

"Hush Little Baby"

Awww! I came across some old baby photographs of my children today. There were a couple of photographs of them sleeping in their cots when they were only a few months old. They looked so sweet.

When they were very young I had a special little song I'd sing to them. It helped them to drop off to sleep when they were feeling tired. LOL Sometimes I used to drop off to sleep along with them. ;)

Here's me with my three month old niece taken just over a year brought back a few memories. :)

It's always lovely to bump into old friends/work colleagues when you least expect to see them.  It's lovely to catch up together.  Over the past few months I've been bumping into many folk I've known over the years. It is always good to see some of those nice folk again.. :)

A Funny Loo Scene

Have you ever sat and panicked a little after you've watched someone else go inside a loo.  This very nice genleman entered a public loo yesterday morning and my heart missed a beat when I saw him struggle to get out of it again. I could see the door handle going up and down as he frantically tried to undo the lock, only to no avail.  I watched the little green sign above the door keep changing from red to green and still the poor man struggled. At this point I began to think the worst as I stood up to go and enquire as to whether or not the gentleman was ok.  I had visions of me having to call a porter/rescue team or the fire brigade at a worst scenario if the man didn't all of a sudden appear from the loo at that crucial point. Ooooo there was definitely a sigh of relief when I saw the gentleman again and I'm so glad he saw the funny side of things too. ;)

Why is it I usually end up laughing after I've watched 'some' bathroom scenes. Not all by far. :)

Something Sizzling

I decided to take my sandwiches and my small bottle of diet coke for a walk yesterday afternoon. The weather was beautiful and I was feeling A1. :)    As I walked I came by a very sunny spot on a small wall.  It was a lovely spot to eat my lunch and read my newspaper.  All was going well. The sandwiches were yummy.  As I went to open my small bottle of coke the top began to fizz a little too much for my liking.  It began to make a sizzling noise and there was no stopping what happened next at that point.  As I undid the twisty lid the cola decided to spurt all over me. How embarrassing!  Ewwww I know I was feeling hot and bothered at this point but the cold cola felt good as it sprayed over my face and over my nice new blouse. They say Coka Cola is quite refreshing when you're feeling thirsty....I had no idea just how much. ;)

Don't try this at home kids. The reason it sprayed over me is because I'd dropped my bag of lunch earlier. The plastic bottle of coka cola was inside it at the time. :)

My Reply:

SmileyRose is NOT a group/organization.  SmileyRose is one persons ramblings......mine only!  :)

My blog site ideas are my own alone. Nobody else is to blame/responsible for the contents/posts made by SmileyRose here. :)

SmileyRose was born about 8/9 yrs ago when I began studying as a mature student. I'd not used the internet previously, so I was very new to it in those days.  I've since used the name SmileyRose as my internet persona although since then I have noticed others using the same name as me, hence my reason for only writing on my own rambling site now (this one).

How I came by the name:

Smiley = because it was associated with my hobby, taking photographs ie., Smile for the camera. :)

Rose = My middle name.

So, now you know. :)

What tech gadget do you want to buy next?

A man detector. Something that beeped every time I am about to be approached by a really, really nice guy. *Sigh* ;)

If you were the wife of a famous celeb, judge or some other high profile figure would you rather know your husband was having an affair in case he passed on some kind of a disease to you or would you be worried in case your kids found out?

What a question. :) Ok! I wouldn't want to catch any bad diseases such as HIV or anything else serious in case it killed me and my children didn't have a Mother to turn in the long run I suppose I'd want to know if my man was sleeping with someone else. The children matter to me which is why I'd want to know. :)

Another Beautiful Day - Thinking Of You!

Ah! The weather outside is beautiful and apparently today it is going to be a little warmer than yesterday.  I'm feeling wonderfully fit and healthy.

I was reading recently about folk who are all feeling quite poorly with all of the various sickness bugs and illnesses going around. I feel quite fortunate to have my health still particularly when I look around me and I see just how many folk are really quite ill.  For the past 15 years I've had nothing more than the flu bug.  I had an operation to remove a gland about that long ago too, but since then I've been relatively lucky.

I had a narrow escape from a serious accident a few years ago, but I made a good recovery, so I am thankful for my health particularly when I look around me and I see so many other folk who are feeling quite unwell.

Wishing all of those folk my best wishes and hoping they all make a speedy recovery.

I recently emailed a very good friend of the family. His wife has been feeling very poorly indeed.  My best wishes go out to them both. Love, hugs and kisses xxxx

A New Hair Do

Thanks to the work colleagues/friends who recently managed to persuade me to book a hair appointment at a local salon. I've decided to go for a new look.  Hmmmm looking forward to it....we've found just the right style. ;)

Sometimes when you're not feeling 100% it's nice to have those cheery folk who you work with to help you focus on the funny side of things. ;) Thanks for that. Ooo and the Chocolates, Crisps and Cola went down a treat too. ;)

Ok! I am now feeling refreshed again. What would I do without the comedians in this world? ;)

The Buzz

Whilst on my way to work the other day I heard a story on the radio which made me chuckle.  Goodness only knows what the other car drivers thought as they drove by me.  A dark haired lady sitting in her car chuckling to herself looks really odd I know but hehe it was the story of the man who put his boxer shorts on and he went to the bathroom and he felt an itch. He went to scratch it and he received a huge sting from a wasp/bee which were in his boxer shorts.  Ouch!  I know it's not funny but it reminded me of a comedy sketch I saw many years ago. It was hilarious.  :)

Oh well! I suppose one should check their underwear 'Bee fore' wearing them in the future.  Ok I should go now and mind my own 'Buzz ness'. ;)

Could you date a man you'd been dating and who you knew was messing you around and sleeping with others?

Of course not! If I am dating someone then I expect to be exclusive until such a time he can be honest enough to say he wants to move on/date someone else. If it's his choice to move on then I'd expect honesty. I know it can be very hurtful at the time however it would be better in the longrun.

I am not really into taking short breaks during dating and then getting back together again mainly because the chances are high that he/you are likely to sleep with someone else during the break. If he's asking for a break then it would make me wonder if he's likely to do the same once you're in a more serious/stable relationship together. I've tried this before and the relationship didn't work out because the memories of him being intimate with someone else and the hurt it seemed to cause at the time always remain, particularly if you really liked/loved someone.

I'm a firm believer that once you both decide to stop dating/seeing each other, then you should both move on with your lives doing whatever you decide to do. Sometimes love isn't enough to keep a relationship together if one or the other has been unfaithful during a relationship for the same reasons I've already mentioned.

If two people really love each other then they wouldn't part even if there were uncertainties within the relationship. If there are uncertainties, then perhaps that person wasn't really for you to begin with. :)

What rule do you find yourself always breaking?

A good fitness regime. I tend to start out with all of the best intentions but I never seem to continue. Erm if only I had my own fitness instructor...however they're far too expensive for the likes of me...besides I work long hours and I never seem to have the time.

Whilst looking out of my bedroom window this morning, I was admiring some of the gardening work I did over the weekend and I saw the early bird catch the worm.  What a lovely sight. The bird struggled with the worm for a while, but not for long.  :)

Ok big stretch. It looks like it's going to be a nice day today.

A Box Of Giggles

I went to Baytree Owl Centre near Spalding yesterday morning with my Mum. I have an empty box provided by the garden centre, it was to help me transport my plants home safely only the plants didn't fit into it so I ended up coming home with this empty box. Could it be a box of giggles? :)

We had a super day. I managed to pick up some lovely plants for my garden and Mum and I had a lovely day browsing around the garden centre. We had lunch there too. It was a very pleasant morning. :)

I looked out for Sparky the parrot however he wasn't around.... Hmmmm I think he's gone to a new home. I did meet Alfie the parrot though and Jess the Owl. :)

The Baytree Owl Centre was a place I used to frequent with my family and one or two friends when the children were very young. We had some great times there. They also had one of the best Santa Grottos I'd ever visited. LOL I'm thinking about amounts of little mini Christmas trees we ended up with over the years from Baytree...I didn't have enough room in my garden to plant them all. ;)

PS One or two photos to follow later. :)

What two things gripe you most about men?

LOL a few things. :)

If we are talking about men inside of a relationship then I can narrow the two things down a little more. Perhaps lack of respect and dishonesty within the relationship can gripe me a little. :)

Have you been able to keep your New Years resolutions or have you broken them?

I broke my new years resolution but only temporarily. :)

OMG! The Not So Blushing Bride................

......and Groom!!!!!!!  Let's get naked!!!!!

I recently read that a cheeky couple who married decided to bare all on their wedding day. The couple who married in Austria decided to shock their family and friends by stripping off. The bride wore a traditional white veil and white high heeled shoes whilst the groom was totally starkers. He managed to cover his modesty with a top hat when having the wedding photos taken.

Something old = They all had a funny turn after they watched the couple strip down.  ;)
Something new = I don't think this one has ever been done before. Whatever happened to traditional weddings? :)
Something borrowed = The top hat no doubt! ;)
Something blue = Well the whole wedding looked a little on the blue side. ;)

It sounds as if the guests had to grin and bare it all! ;)  Here's me thinking "You don't have to take your clothes off to have a good time" seems i'm mistaken. ;)

Goodness! The youth of today. They never did those kind of things when I was a youngster.  Oh well! I hope they have a barey happy marriage together. :)

PS It brings a whole new meaning to 'The Big Day'  ....just which part of it was big? ;)

The Corner Shop/Post Office

Aren't they just marvelous?! :)

Hmmm one should never knock their corner shop because you never know just how much you miss them when they're no longer there. :)

I remember having a corner shop wherever I lived when I was growing up.  When I was a little girl and I visited/stayed at my grandmothers home there was a little corner shop I used frequent at the bottom of the street. I used to call the lovely lady who served behind the counter 'Lady' and she served me all of my favourite sweets out of the jars she had behind her counter.  Sometimes I would buy the sugared mice which she used to keep on the top of her counter. Awww those were the days.:)

When I was a little older I lived at the various RAF camps with my parents. Although we did not have a corner shop as such, we used to nip down to the NAAFI to buy our sherbet dips. It sold most things. When I lived at RAF North Luffenham (when it was an RAF camp) at the weekend we'd have a little van who used to make his rounds and I couldn't wait to buy my favourite lucky bags. :)

I then moved to Stamford with my parents and I was more than lucky as we had two corner shops just down the road from where I lived.  One was the Sterling Road Shop and the other was The VG shop.  I soon became a regular at both and it was great walking into either shop and passing the time of day with the folk who ran the shops at the time.:)

Awwww those were the days. :)

'The Yearling'

Has anyone ever watched the film 'The Yearling'?  It was a feature film which was adapted in 1946 to a film which starred Gregory Peck, Jane Wyman and Claude Jarman. The novel  'The Yearling' was written by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. It was a real tear jerker. I also remember bursting into tears after watching the film. It tells the story of a poor Floridian boy named Jody Baxter who is forced to kill his beloved pet deer Flag after the animal begins ravaging the family corn crop.

It was a fabulous film. One to watch if you ever get the chance. :)

Feeling Sad

One terrible day Little Miss Giggle lost her giggle! Just like that! Gone! She had woken up giggling. As usual. She had giggled her way down stairs. As usual. And she had giggled while she was having breakfast. As usual!

Even Doctor Makeyouwell was unable to make her giggle again. :(

The only person who seemed to make her giggle again was Mr Happy when he sent her an empty box full of giggles.

Does anyone else know the story "Little Miss Giggles" by Roger Hargreaves? Well I lost my giggle today!

It's always a very sad time when members of your own family, your friends/work colleagues (old and new)....pass away. There was one elderly gentleman who had the ability to make me smile and giggle. He was an ex work colleague who used to pop into my office sometimes when he was passing by and sometimes he'd stop by to tell me a funny story or a funny joke. It was during the days when moral amongst the workers was so much more at ease and the people you worked along side with were more relaxed because others didn't make complaints about them every time something small went wrong or when there was a small incident which caused them a slight upset they didn't make complaints every two minutes because they didn't allow for human error. The times when we didn't have huge mountains of paperwork/emails/phone calls coming out of our ears. We had proper tea/coffee breaks.  Workers were a little more cheerful as they worked and they still managed to get on and do their jobs because they felt more at ease whilst they worked. How I wish those days would return. They were the days I loved. The gentleman who had the ability to make me giggle sometimes has recently passed away. May he RIP and I shall cherish my happier memories of when I once worked in the same department as he did.

If there was a 'pecking order' of folk who have made me smile and giggle over the years.....and if he were alive today, then he'd certainly be at the top of my list of funny men. He will be sadly missed by me.

Thank you to a work colleague who leant me a tissue today. It was most appreciated and it's one occasion when I don't mind if my make-up smudges a little. It's also nice to be with a few friends/caring folk when you hear upsetting news such as this. Thank you.

An Elderly Gentleman

Thank you to the very nice elderly gentleman who paid me such a lovely compliment today. If I have made you feel warm by my very personality then I am truly honoured and grateful for your kind remarks. I don't need to try very hard to be this way because my natural personality is the same whether or not I am at work or anywhere else for that matter.  We all have our off days sometimes but the majority of the time I like to please whenever I can. :)

If I have put a smile on anyone's face then I am truly grateful and thank you once again.  :)

How sweet!  I've never had Brighton Rock before and I've always wanted to suck on one. Recently someone I know visited Brighton and she brought back some sticks of Brighton rock. I am now the proud owner of my my very own Brighton rock.  Thank you sweet child. ;o)

Curry Night

I popped out with a friend for a curry night at a Wetherspoons restaurant this evening.  It's always nice to catch up with friends and to have a good girly giggle together. :)

On arrival at the restaurant I couldn't believe just how busy and popular it was.

I chose a chicken korma dish from the menu was really delicious.  I was pleasantly surprised to see just how many Brits actually enjoy a good curry evening. :)

'The Planet Of The Apes'

Hey! Does anyone remember the 1960's film and TV series 'The Planet Of The Apes?'  It starred actor Roddy McDowell and I loved the film/series when I was younger.  Anyway, I've just read today that there is a new film in the pipelines. It's called  'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' and it stars James Franco and Freida Pinto. It's scheduled to be released in the U.S.A in to watch out for. ;)

Hmmmm very tasty. ;)
Hummus is one of the more popular Middle Eastern dips. Served with fresh or toasted pita bread, hummus makes for a great snack or appetizer. Tahini is an important part of the hummus recipe and cannot be substituted. However, it can be omitted.

Appetizers Made with Hummus

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

1 16 oz can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans
1/4 cup liquid from can of chickpeas
3-5 tablespoons lemon juice (depending on taste)
1/2 tablespoons tahini
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil

Drain chickpeas and set aside liquid from can. Combine remaining ingredients in blender or food processor. Add 1/4 cup of liquid from chickpeas. Blend for 3-5 minutes on low until thoroughly mixed and smooth.

Place in serving bowl, and create a shallow well in the center of the hummus.

Add a small amount (1-2 tablespoons) of olive oil in the well. Garnish with parsley (optional).

Serve immediately with fresh, warm or toasted pita bread, or cover and refrigerate.

For a spicier hummus, add a sliced red chile or a dash of cayenne pepper.

Storing Hummus

Hummus can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and can be kept in the freezer for up to one month. Add a little olive oil if it appears to be too dry

What's the biggest risk you've ever taken? Are you glad you took it or do you regret it?

I think many of us take risks from time to time. I can't think of my biggest risk ever however I risked losing £5 on the Grand National last weekend but I came out a winner. ;)

Curvy women are the best! Look back only a few years ago when all of the famous Hollywood actresses all had curves. Monroe, Loren, Taylor and Bardot were all curvy ladies to name just a few. Who wants to be a stick insect?

Hmmm I've always been a little curvy even when I was much younger the only thing really skinny about me was my to have a 22inch waistline again would be a miracle. ;)

I think Curvy is good because I have curves still. ;)

Get Well Soon

Get Well Soon Catherine Zeta Jones.  Apparently the actress was recently diagnosed with a condition associated with depression. It is hardly surprising as she has had to contend with a very ill husband very recently after actor Michael Douglas was diagnosed with throat cancer.

It seems she is making plans to make a couple of films soon so hopefully she will be well enough to continue. :)

The Most Beautiful Woman In The World

Jennifer Lopez has been voted 'The Most Beautiful Woman In The World' in one of the readers magazines recently.  Erm  that's great because she is a very pretty lady.  One wonders if the readers voted the singer with this award (how many readers are there) or if it was a panel of judges?  Did they consist of male judges or female judges? :)

So, will the winner of the Miss World competition feel less of a winner now that Jennifer Lopez has the title?  Just who is really the most beatiful woman in the world? :)

Stamford Funfair

This is the view I saw from the top of the bigwheel last Saturday evening when I visited the Stamford fair.  Heck! It was scary up there.  Over the years I have sat at the same spot with various different friends. It's amazing how time flys when you're having fun. ;)

The dodgems were great fun!
