Commander of Apollo 11 Mission Dies
So sad. Astronaut Neil Armstrong the first man on the moon (July 21st, 1969) dies at the age of 82 years. He recently underwent a heart bypass earlier in the month. He was undoubtedly one of the heros of our time.
Well remembered historic statement when he radioed back to earth: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
Neil Armstrong loved flying. He was a Navy fighter pilot, test pilot and then an astronaut. What a hero...he will not be forgotton.
He received the Congressional Gold Medal last November, along with three other astronauts, it is the highest US civilian award.
RIP Neil Armstrong. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
