My photo
My name is Frances Rose Agnes Napper aka SmileyRose. I am a friendly and fun loving individual. I like meeting new/old friends. Although I love being with friends, I also enjoy my own space from time to time. I have a number of hobbies. I enjoy taking photographs, going to the theatre, travel (visiting new and exciting places), reading, films and listening to music. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I particularly enjoy it when we all get together. I was a full-time mother for both of my daughters and I did not go back to work until they both reached primary school age. The UK has a lot to offer because there are so many picturesque places to visit. I particularly enjoy the British countryside. My home town was in Stamford, Lincolnshire although I am currently living in Peterborough. My Father was a serving member of the RAF. I'd consider myself well travelled from a very early age (6 months old). Divorced - for 10yrs. Currently single. I am interested in meeting nice folk only. :) Star sign - Leo the Lion. Birthday -July 29th. That's me in a nutshell. :)

Marriage ;o)

Someone once asked me how important I considered marriage to be? :o)

Marriage is certainly not something which I would consider doing lightly unless I was very sure about the person I was about to marry. It is important for two people to make a commitment to each other if they are in love because  marriage is a way of letting the other person know just how much they mean to you. It cements two halves together and makes them a whole. :)
If you know the person well and you are sure they are the person you intend to spend your days with, then of course marriage is recommended. It should be considered as forever and not just a fleeting moment that is expected to pass by at the drop of a hat.

Of course not all marriages are made in heaven and not everyone  ends up living happily ever after ...but the intention to love each other forever within marriage should be their main consideration irrespective of what may happen/occur in the future.

We would all like that fairytale marriage to end happily ever after. Sadly they don't always end that way. If a marriage fails then it is always advisable to spend some time reflecting on what went wrong within the marriage. We should all learn from our failures so that if there is ever a 'next' time our experiences will help to make us better at the things we failed on. Nobody is perfect and it takes two people to make a marriage work.

As far as children are concerned: I certainly would never have children with a man I was not in love with at the time. :)

Ps Before anyone asks, yes I had both of my children within marriage. :)

'I Give It A Year'

The gist of the story (in short). Contains Spoiler :)

I recently went to watch a very funny romcom. The film made me laugh out loud on a few occasions. The storyline was about a couple who fall madly in love with each other...but before the year is out they find their relationship is drifting apart. They find themselves visiting a councillor who tries to persuade them to give their marriage another go. They both try desperately to make things work out but Nat falls for a work colleague. She does not want to be the first to tell her husband that she has fallen in love with someone else. Raffe (hubby) on the other hand falls for his ex girlfriend who still has feelings for him. They all arrange to meet up for a social gathering and they find they all get along together very well. It really did make me chuckle. Their feelings begin to show. Hubby Raffe announces that he wants a divorce. There is lots of happiness because both couples are finally free to be with each other.

This comedy was hilarious to say the least. It is definitely worth a watch if you fancy being cheered up a little. :)

Full-Time Mother or A Homemaker

When I looked after my children I preferred to be called a Full-Time Mother rather than a housewife because that makes you sound as if you are tied to the kitchen sink every day.  A Homemaker sounds a bit American I know but it is still much nicer than being called a housewife.

I did much more than just changing nappies, cleaning, ironing etc. I had the freedom to persue other things as well. I joined the various committees and I became Secretary at the Mothers and Toddlers group. I also helped on the committee as a Secretary at the pre-school committee. I was an unpaid volunteer at all of the groups.

It's always good to keep your mind active when you are a full time Mother :)

When my first daughter was born I was still at work before I went on maternity leave... therefore the birth certificate still showed my employent as an Administrative Assistant. :)

"Mum's Rhapsody"

Haha thanks to a friend who recently sent me this via facebook. I loved it.  Hmm it was hard work being a MUM. I had no reward for it though and they were 'hard times'. It wasn't the easiest decision to make becoming a full time Mother but the ex was a shift worker therefore it made sense that I took a career break. What was the alternative, to leave both of my children with someone I didn't know or trust to take care of them as well as I knew I could. Financially it wasn't the ideal... if I'd continued at work there would have been more money coming into the family household. We managed though by prioritising and buying what was most important first. If I'd gone back to work part time a large proportion of my income would have been spent on a car and travel as we lived out in a village at the time...and also childcare. I would have had to taken time off work had the children been ill/sick and time off work when I was sick too. I'm glad I became a full time Mother and I wouldn't change a thing if I had to do it all over again. When the girls were much older I had no desire to want to start all over again I am quite happy to be nappy free these days.:)

Men With Baggage :)

Men with baggage!!! Why is it that I always seem to meet guys who are seperated but they are still financially committed to their partners because they still have young kids and wives to take care off? I would never date a married man who was still in a committed relationship with is wife.

Ewww they're often guys who are looking to spend little money on you because they can't afford to take you out...or they are guys who expect you to pay for everything.

I do not need anything from a man apart from a bit of loving and to be treated like a lady. That includes being taken out from time to time. A relationship and not casual sex!  Is that too much to ask for? :)

Then there are the guys who are younger than me and who all want families. I don't want any more babies though. My children are grown up. I suppose I will have grandchildren one day...but not before my children are ready.

There are guys who are all too old for me... they're almost using walking crutches. I'm still quite young and vibrant for my age. In fact a few folk have often complimented me as they have assumed I was still in my late 30's/very early 40's. :)

I'm not financially tied to my ex. I am very independent. I have no baggage....apart from the ones that I take on holiday with me. :)

I have had quite a lot of time to write on the internet because I am not in a comitted relationship right now....however I'm bored with it and I am thinking about doing some decorating soon. :)

After divorce 7yrs ago I was totally lost....but I was determined to get out there and to make it on my own without the help of any man. I never turned to illegally making money to finance myself...I just worked hard in order to get myself into a proper job. That meant me going back to college to upgrade all of my old qualifications and to gain more qualifications in the process of it. It wasn't easy for me but it has made me a much stronger person than I used to be. :)

F*arting On An Aircraft -- Better Out Than In Pilots!!!! ;o)

Apparently gastroenterologists are encouraging pilots to 'let rip' during flight journeys particularly as it could 'affect the pilots abilities to control the aeroplane.'

For helping mask the stench they recommend everything from odour-absorbing blankets and seat cushions to custom-made underwear..In an 'extreme' measure, passengers could also wear rubber pants complete with a vapour-collecting air whatever next? ;o)

So the next time you see a woman looking cozy underneath her blanket during a flight....just beware because she may have f*arted! ;)

Additional findings:

  • The Average person breaks wind about 10 times a day
  • Women's smell worse than men's ...(I do not believe that one for one second!)
  • No evidence that one sex farts more than the other
  • Strengthening the pelvic ring would make release more silent

    Happy Pancake Day. :)

I hope everyone has a good Shrove Tuesday and they get to eat plenty of pancakes. My preference: Pancakes with lemon and sugar. Mmm lovely. I am thinking back to when I was a young girl and how I loved my Dad making us pancakes every Pancake Day. I did the same for my own two daughters too.  :)

    Shock Resignation

    Pope Benedict resigns!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Pope the best of luck in his retirement.

The Pope announced his resignation in Latin to a meeting of Vatican cardinals this morning, saying he did not have the 'strength of mind and body' to continue leading more than a billion Roman Catholics worldwide.

Today started off quite badly. I took one look outside my bedroom window and all I really wanted to do was to climb back into bed where it was nice and cosy. :)

I realised that although it was a Sunday morning that I needed to get up and do something positive so I telephoned a friend. We went for a two mile walk around Ferry Meadows. LOL my friend was somewhat surprised by my suggestion as at that stage of the day it was pouring down with rain. It showed no signs of stopping either.

I wore about four layers of clothing. I wrapped up nice and warm and off I went. I made certain to wear some decent walking shoes. ;)

As tiring as it was, I actually felt really good after my walk. In fact I felt as fit as a fiddle. :)

I came home and ate some dinner before I set out again to the Showcase cinema this evening to watch the film 'Lincoln'. I upgraded me seat to a big comfy seat on the back row. ;)

I know I have visited the Cathedral City of Lincoln on a number of occasions over the past few years, mainly to photograph the Cathedral and Castle and also to visit a couple of  friends who live in the City, however this film was actually about President Abraham Lincoln and not the English City of Lincoln, but it still makes it good enough for me to watch. ;)

Daniel Day-Lewis's portrayal of Abraham Lincoln was absolutely brilliant to say the least. What a fabulous, fabulous actor he is.  The film also starred the wonderful actress Sally Field and another fabulous actor Tommy Lee Jones.

The film was directed by the brilliant Mr Steven Spielberg.

The film tells the story of The American President and  the emancipation proclamation issued in January 1863.  Lincoln pushed for  the 13th amendment to abolish slavery.  Congress passed it by the necessary two-thirds vote in February 1865. The act was almost not passed as it barely had the amount of votes required due to many folks different opinions.

Daniel Day-Lewis should be commended for his acting role in this film. I loved it!!! :)

Remembers photographing the little imp at the Lincoln Cathedral with a couple of fellow friend photographers on two seperate occasions on one of my many expeditions.. ;)

SmileyRose Is My Pseudonym - Frances R A Napper Is Who I Am :)

Many folk think SmileyRose is a seperate person to me. That's not the case. SmileyRose is my Pseudonym, it has been for the past 10 years....however,  Frances R A Napper is who I am.....just call me Lois if you like. :)

I have NEVER previously written a book or an article....and I have never been paid for anything that I have written.  All of my photographs are taken as a hobby only and sometimes I like to share those photographs either here or on my photograph site. Again, I have never been paid for any of my photographs is purely a hobby. :)

    'Superman Returns'

I am watching 'Superman Returns' on the TV. What a fabulous film. I've always fancied being Lois. ;)

Superman returns to Earth from the planet Krypton. He is looking to reclaim the love of Lois Lane. Lois secretly has his child, a son.  Superman finds out he is a father.

This is the first time I am watching this film. The film stars: Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth. It was very enjoyable. :)

So Long, Farewell To Another Work Colleague :(

It is always very sad when you have to say good-bye to a work colleague especially one who has been there for a good number of years.
Wishing Elaine all of the best for the future.  Thanks for the slice of carrot cake today, I enjoyed it immensely and I will miss your smiling face. Over the past months it has been a pleasure to work along side you. I know I don't work with you all of the time, but it's been great when I have.

Take good care of yourself  *tears* Eww I really don't enjoy saying goodbye to folk. :(
I'm going to share my little song with you....I'm the little  one who leaves right at the end. ;)
I sincerely hope you come back and visit us all at the Zoo from time to time. Best of luck to you.  ;)

    "Suit and Tie"

I am really liking the new song "Suit and Tie" by Justin Timberlake. It's great because I have a soft spot for guys who like to wear suits and ties.

Some guys like the scruffy look through their own choice in style....but it's not the look I like to see guys wear. I much prefer guys who dress up smartly or smart casuals look good too.  :)

I really have had a good weekend at the cinema. J

I visited the Peterborough Showcase Cinema this weekend. I went to watch the film ‘Flight’...which starred the very brilliant actor Mr Denzel Washington and the sultry actress Nadine Velazquez.
    What an absolutely brilliant film!

The film told the story of a pilot named Whip Whittaker, who was an alcoholic and a drug user. Both he and another cabin crew member (air stewardess) both have a binge drinking session on the evening before....and on the same day they were about to go on duty on a passenger air flight.
Events lead the plane to malfunction however Captain Whittaker takes over and his quick thinking and handling of the plane helps to save the lives of almost all of the passengers. He was hailed a hero.

Investigations into the plane crash reveal that the cause of the plane crashing was due to malfunction of the aircraft, however it was also established that the Captain’s orders was to stop refreshments being served on the plane due to turbulence, yet bottles of alcohol were found in the cabin waste bin. At this point the Captain could have refrained from telling the truth about his alcohol related problems because enquires reveal that the dead air stewardess was an alcoholic and traces of alcohol were found in her body during the examination. The guilt stricken pilot couldn’t bring himself to blame someone who was not there to defend herself and he decided to come clean during the court case when he revealed that it was he who had been drinking alcohol on the morning the of the flight.
Captain Whittaker was imprisoned for his negligence and he lost his licence to ever fly again.

I know a lot of you will be thinking the poor guy should have been given a break as he saved the lives of most of the air passengers on the plane by the way in which he took control of the plane. However doesn't It just go to show that even though someone may feel that they are in control of their vehicle when they are under the influence of alcohol, they are still capable of causing a very serious accident. In the above case the pilot was heralded a hero because he managed to bring the plane down without causing death to ALL of the passengers aboard the plane. That was before they established he had been drinking. However I dare say that he was imprisoned because had he NOT been drinking anything at all, could he possibly have landed that plane without causing any deaths whatsoever? Now there's a thought.

I really enjoyed the film immensely. One to watch! J

    "Eye Of The Tiger" :)

    SmileyRose x

    "The Life Of Pi" :)

This afternoon I decided to pick my youngest daughter Lauren up and we had a ‘girly’ afternoon at the Cineworld cinema.
We went to watch the fabulous 3D film ‘Life of Pie’.

The film tells the story of Piscine' Pi' Patel. He changes his name from Piscine to just Pi because he was taunted by the other school children.

Pi and his family grow up in India and he is the son of a zoo keeper. His family decide to move to Canada. Enroute to Canada their freighter sinks and Pi finds himself a castaway. He is adrift on a lifeboat and is accompanied by a Bengal Tiger, an Orangutan, a Hyena and a Zebra. All five are fighting for survival but very soon Pi finds that his only surviving companion is the Bengal Tiger. Yes, now picture this!  The Bengal Tiger is actually a female...she is me. I’m the Tiger. ;)  Oh yes and I’m stranded on a lifeboat with Johnny Depp. Grooooowl!!! :o)
The film was directed by Ang Lee. The special effects in the film were just marvellous and it really was a beautiful film which was just filled with such a lot of beautiful colours. The sea scenes in particular were just magnificent. J

I laughed out load as I am presuming the Tiger had a bit of Scots in her...when she did a wee puddle on was hilarious to say the least. ;)
After Pi was finally rescued he eventually told his story, only folk found it hard to believe that he was adrift on a lifeboat in the Pacific Ocean with a Bengal Tiger. The only way which he could persuade folk to believe him was by telling the same story but replacing the animals with actual people. It seemed to work. :)

There are a number of good films out at the cinema presently...I won't be a total spoiler, however if you haven’t yet seen this film then it is a must. I loved it. :)
