My photo
My name is Frances Rose Agnes Napper aka SmileyRose. I am a friendly and fun loving individual. I like meeting new/old friends. Although I love being with friends, I also enjoy my own space from time to time. I have a number of hobbies. I enjoy taking photographs, going to the theatre, travel (visiting new and exciting places), reading, films and listening to music. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I particularly enjoy it when we all get together. I was a full-time mother for both of my daughters and I did not go back to work until they both reached primary school age. The UK has a lot to offer because there are so many picturesque places to visit. I particularly enjoy the British countryside. My home town was in Stamford, Lincolnshire although I am currently living in Peterborough. My Father was a serving member of the RAF. I'd consider myself well travelled from a very early age (6 months old). Divorced - for 10yrs. Currently single. I am interested in meeting nice folk only. :) Star sign - Leo the Lion. Birthday -July 29th. That's me in a nutshell. :)

My Prayer!

This used to be just like me every night before I went to bed when I was a little girl.

My prayer was: I lay me down to sleep, I pray to God my soul to keep, If I should die before I wake, I pray to God my soul to take. God Bless Mummy, Daddy....and then I would be there almost all night blessing every one who I knew just to bide me some extra time before going to bed. :o)

You could see why I was very angelic and Father Barry from Salisbury was really sweet to me. He used to pick me up from my home every weekend to take me to Catechism classes. :)

Personally, I think it's good to teach your child a little prayer when they're younger. It stays with you forever. I taught my own children the very same prayer when they were young too.

I thank my Nana for teaching me that prayer time was a time to be thankful for the little things in life. :)

I'm Smiling Again! I'm Now Smiley, SmileyRose ;o)

I'm smiling again!

I went to the dentist this evening and I'm feeling happy again. Yes both of the teeth which were causing me problems are now looking fine again.

Hehe a few weeks ago I had a bad dream about seeing a pair of false teeth in a glass on my bedside table. They were chattering to me. I woke up in a cold sweat. ;)

Thank you to my dentist for saving my own teeth without having to remove either of them. :)

Hmm there is a lot to be said re the importance of going to the dentist at frequent intervals. :)

"The Famous Five"

One of the first books I ever read as a young girl was "The Famous Five" by Enid Blyton. I am so happy to be able to share the same memories with my daughter Catherine.....her first book was 'The Famous Five' also. Remembers her not being able to put the book down until she'd completed it within a day!!! I was pretty much the same too. :)

Enid Blyton wrote 21 full-length Famous Five novels. I didn't read all 21...however remembers buying the whole series of books for Catherine to read. It took up one whole book shelf right by her bedside. She of course read all 21 books at Primary School age.

Happy Mothers Day

Mother's Day...a time for warm thoughts......and fond memories.....for expressing the feelings and words that often go unspoken.....for letting those special people in our lives know that they are loved and appreciated -..............always. :)  Love from SmileyRose XXX

SmileyRose x

From Me..... To All Of you!

This Sunday will be Mothering Sunday/Mothers Day. Many Mothers around the United Kingdom and Europe will be spending the day with their loved ones/their children. There will be family dinners/gathering, exchanging gifts and perhaps a family outing. There will be laughter and happiness among families all over.

Mothering Sunday is a Christian festival which falls on the 4th Sunday in Lent. Other names attributed to Mothering Sunday is of course Rose Sunday - sometimes used as an alternative title for Laetare Sunday, as is witnessed by the purple robes of Lent being replaced in some churches by rose-coloured ones.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish every Mother a very Happy Mothers Day.

I would also like us all to be reminded of all of those Mothers who are no longer with us anymore. There are many folk out there whom I know personally, those who have all lost their Mothers in recent months/years....and I would like us all to remember the hurt many of these families will be feeling this coming Sunday.

There are also those Mothers who have lost their children and who will be feeling pain and hurt this coming Sunday. I would like to take the time to remember all of those folk out there, because I know how much they will be hurting. I know how much I hurt badly when I don't see/hear from my children for a couple of weeks. I cannot begin to feel the same pain as all of you must feel but I do understand.

This Mothering Sunday I will be spending time with my Mother and my daughter Lauren....unfortunately Catherine will not be with us for good reasons...mainly because our busy schedules will be keeping us apart. Be rest assured though I will be thinking about her  and no matter what the distance in miles, she will most certainly still be in my heart.

I have a way of dealing with the days I cannot be with any of my children. When I am missing them...and I am longing to be with them both, I spend a few quiet moments in solitary. I close my eyes and I picture my children in front of me. I think back to a happy moment when we are all together. I can almost touch their smiling faces as if they were really standing in front of me. Whenever I think about those moments it releases all of the tensions I have inside of me and I feel really close to them. I think it is important to make good memories together. It may not work with everyone.....but it works with me.

Here's wishing happy thoughts to everyone on Mothering Sunday. God Bless you all XXXX

"Bright Star"

Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art--
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors--
No--yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
Pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft fall and swell,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever--or else swoon to death.

"War Brides"

Quote from "War Brides" - "Sometimes in life there really are bonds formed that can never be broken. Sometimes you really can find that one person who will stand by you no matter what; maybe you’ll find it in a spouse and celebrate it with your dream wedding, but there is also the chance that the one person you can count on for a lifetime, the one person who knows you, sometimes better than you know yourself, is the same person who's been standing beside you all along."

This evening I watched a fun chick flick....hehe what a lovely film. . :)

"The Name of the Game"

by Abba :)

SmileyRose x

What's In A Name ;o)

It's true! I am afraid that my Facebook account is not filled with very exotic sounding names. Apart from just four or five folk.....almost all 200 names are all mostly very British names. ....They're mostly family members and friends I know in real life. :)

All of my family on Facebook were all mostly born in the UK. We're not very exotic. :)

In fact practically ALL of my friends and family members who I socialize with away from the internet are all English/British born...or just British folk. :)

I don't really know many folk who live abroad apart from just a very few. :) It's true... I know of a few folk who were actually born here in England but they were brought up in a different country. They can't speak hardly any English at all. Wonders if this still makes them English?  ;)

I was baptized with the name 'Frances''s quite an old English name however the Irish have been known to use the name a lot too.

The name 'Frances' is also known in the USA. 'Frances' means Freedom.

The male version of my name is 'Francis' :)

Can You Spell That Please?

The award for the longest name for a person belongs to a German immigrant. The surname he was given at birth, and which somehow fitted on his passport was: Mr Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorffvortschaferswesenchafewarenwholgepflegeunzenvonangereifenduchihrraubgiriigfeindtausendjahesvorandieerscheinenbanderechiffgebrauchlichtalsseinursprungvonkrthinzwischensternartigraumaufdersuchebtbewohnbarplanetenkreisdrehensichundstandigmenshlichkeittkonntevortpflanzeslamdlichfreuundruhemitnichteinfurchrintlligentgeschopfsvonhinzwischenster….....Ok! Can you spell that slowly please? ;o)

I'm Not A Celebrity..Nor Am I Married To A Celebrity!!

I am NOT a celebrity nor have I ever been a high earner, therefore I tend not to purchase really expensive beauty products. :-)

I tend to purchase good quality make up and purfumes which do not cost the earth.

I have never bought expensive make-up or perfumes for myself however I have received birthday and Christmas gifts on previous occasions :-)

Thinks wealthy folk can afford to look good for their age because they spend enough/loads of money to look good. Ordinary folk aren't quite so fortunate as they do not earn a lot of money to enable them to afford all of the expensive cosmetics...or else I feel sure there will be far more folk who could look just as good as the celebs.
Some do not have the money to be able to attend expensive gyms every day of the week either.

For a woman of my age I get complemented on the way I look quite often...however it's not because I use expensive products in order to look good.:)

The End Of Another Era - Farewell Pope Benedict

I sadly missed Pope John Paul II after he died. He served as Pope for an incredible 27 years almost. He died in 2005. I was saddened to learn of his death. He had such a lovely and a friendly nature about him.

Hmm and now is the end of another era. Pope Benedict XVI is the first pope to willingly renounce the Papacy since Pope Celestine V in 1294.

I would like to say farewell Pope Benedict XVI .... and I wish you a happy retirement. :)

I wonder who we will welcome as the new Pope in 2013.

It is very true that Father Barry was our parish priest when I was a young girl and he would personally come to pick me up every weekend for catechism classes. I made my first holy communion in Salisbury, Wiltshire when I was only 7yrs old.

I Left Home A Number Of Years Ago!

Someone asked me if I tell my parents everything! LOL of course I don't! I have been living away from home ever since I was in my 20's.:)

Although I did leave home very briefly when I was still only a teenager.:)

(India) 'Stoker' ;o)

I recently went to watch the film 'Stoker at the Peterborough Showcase Cinema'...a psychological thriller which starred the fabulous actress Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode and Mia Wasikowska as India Stoker. Yep! Just call me India. ;o)

Personally speaking, I would class this film on the border line of being a horror movie similar to one that Sir Alfred Hitchcock might was probably one of the scariest films I have watched in ages. 'The Silence of the Lambs' and 'Phsyco' are two of the scariest films I would be prepared to watch these days. :)

The film was produced by Tony Scott who sadly died during production.

The film tells the story of Uncle Charlie moving in with India and her mother after the suspicious death of India's Father. Let the family mystery begins. Mysteriously folk begin to disappear. :)

The film ends with  India riding off into the sunset all alone. :)

I won't be a total spoiler however the film was very watchable and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It certainly gets a good rating from me. :)

Ps. It's the last time I'm going to say that I am 'freezing' cold!!!! ;o)

Who Are Some Of The Most Stunning Ladies In The World? :)

Without a doubt I think some of the MOST beautiful ladies in the world are definitely those who have Indian blood.

Some of the most stunning ladies from India have gone on to win the Miss World Competition. They have great genes and they look so elegant.:)

Let's not forget that India and Pakistan are two seperate countries. ;)
