Thank You to The Outpatients Department

Crying. 😒 Thank you to all of you lovely people from the Outpatients Department at the Peterborough City Hospital, for these beautiful flowers.

When I look at them I will think about Dad and how grateful he was to some of the staff there who have helped him throughout his many years of being an Outpatient at the hospital. Dad not only suffered from Dementia in recent years, he was also a Stroke patient.

I thank you all very kindly, from the bottom of my heart.

with love

The Railway Children

My Father took my sister Caroline and I to see the 'Railway Children' many years ago, when Jenny Agutter played the part of Bobby...the eldest daughter. My brother was in hospital at the time and we were living in Cyprus. It was the only film my Father ever took me to see at the cinema. However he often paid for my sister and i to go every Saturday morning when we were a little older. He would drop us both off at the Berengaria Cinema and then he would pick us up afterwards.

The scene when Bobby runs to her Daddy after the steam from the train was cleared at the platform, shouting "Daddy, my Daddy" always made me cry. It was an emotional scene. I loved the 2000 version of the film too.

One of the very first presents my Father ever bought me, was a Hornby train set. We'd play for hours with it.  It's perhaps the reason I like trains so much. My Grandfather used to work on the railways too.

When I was younger, I used to have a cape coat just like the one  Roberta in the film wears. My father used to go away a lot due to him being in the RAF when we were younger however we always looked forward to seeing him when he returned.

On the night my Father died (early hours of the morning), I hurried to see him. I drove through thick fog....only the fog didn't clear/lift. :( It's not usually foggy this time of the year. It reminded me of that same scene from the film. That scene always did make me cry. :(

I Have No More Tears Dad!!!!!

I have no more tears Dad...not for now anyway. I'm being brave. Time for us to celebrate your life.......

I am looking back and a smile crosses my face now as I remember that you never went anywhere without your cap (You had so many!!!!!).  Being the gentleman you always were, you always took your cap off when indoors,  purely out of respect, however the times you forgot it, always made me smile.

In my mind i am picturing me placing your cap firmly on your head. :)

"LIFE"

"LIFE" - Omg 😱 I really enjoyed this film. πŸŽ₯ I was actually gripping hold of the edge of my seat πŸ’Ί Not a spoiler but I was the last one out of the cinema 🎦 this evening and I darted out of there pretty quickly afterwards. πŸ˜€

A good film πŸŽ₯ to go and watch, particularky if you enjoy sci-fi films like I do. 😁

Prior to seeing the film, I was not very pleased though!!! I have been an 'Insider' member at the Showcase Cinema for a good number of years now. It means that because I go to the cinema regularly/so often that i get to watch a film πŸŽ₯ for less than full price.

Tonight I went to the cinema and the guy who was serving told me that they have a new card system because it is now called the new Showcase De lux cinema, due to recent reburbishment. I told him that normally they look my name up on their computer πŸ’» system and they can see that i am an Insider/member, however this evening they charged me full ticket 🎫 price, because I am not in receipt of a new card!!!

I then informed the assistant at the till that a few weeks ago, they took down all of my particulars/details and they informed me that a new card would be sent out automatically to me. However, nothing has arrived in the post yet!

#BloomingCheek all of these years I have spent a fortune coming to the cinema and they treat me like a rotten tomato I am not very pleased! :(

RealMen!

SmileyRoseFrances x

Designer Babies V Real Babies 😁

I am so glad I grew up in an era when designer babies have not become too fashionable yet. What do I think about designer babies? Personally, I think it's messing with nature and they're playing with fire.

Lol could you imagine the next block buster film πŸŽ₯  A country using designer babies to entrap our dipstick male species into falling in love with them. Could you imagine a mass epidemic of perfect looking women swarming the country in an attempt to take over the country!   007 would have a field time if he were captured by the enemy.  πŸ˜‚

I believe in replacing cells that maybe diseased, however where would it stop?  What if someone suggested replacing cells to make women have longer legs, bigger assets etc in order to design man's perfect woman with a perfect body! πŸ˜€

Every woman may end up looking like Wonder Woman one day.

A Lovely Mothers Day and Beauty and The Beast :)

'Till the last petal falls.

“The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his twenty-first year. If he could learn to love another, and earn their love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time.”

What a fabulous, fabulous version of the Beauty and the Beast film. Emma Watson and Dan Stevens were brilliant as Belle and the Beast......and so were all of the rest of the cast, which included Emma Thompson and Ewan McGregor.  I loved this Disney film πŸŽ₯ :)

What two better people could I possibly go and see the film with, than my two lovely daughters, Catherine and Lauren πŸ’ž It is a very rare occasion that all three 3⃣ of us get to meet up together, due to our busy work schedules, however today we all made the effort to meet. What a wonderful surprise it was too! Lol I arrived nice an early at the Cinema this morning πŸŒ„, then i receive a telephone call πŸ“ž from Lauren asking me to meet them both in the car park. I was still chatting to Lauren on the telephone πŸ“ž when they both surprised me with a bouquet πŸ’ of flowers🌹and presents 🎁. It was an early Mothers Day surprise, due to Lauren having to return to Uni tomorrow, therefore it was only a weekend visit, however I got to hug both of my daughters at the same time today. ☺

When we were seated inside of the cinema 🎦  I sat in the middle of my two daughters. I had a feeling of contentment, because it was so lovely to see them both πŸ™Œ together today.

I later drove to my Mother's home to have dinner with her.

What a great day I have had, simply the best! πŸ˜€

You must go to see the film, it is excellent.

Just Call Me Miss Marbles 😁😁

I used to love πŸ’“ playing marbles when I lived at Salisbury, Wiltshire. I used to mostly play marbles with a boy called David. We were about 7/8yrs old at the time and he lived across the road from me (corner house) when we resided at RAF Old Sarum.

I remember him having his leg in plaster and lol 😜 i remember signing my name on it. ;)

He always seemed to beat me at marbles.

SmileyRoseFrances x

A Funny Memory πŸ˜€

One of my funniest memories from my past: When I was 7 yrs old I resided at Old Sarum, Salisbury, Wiltshire. I used to call for one of my best friends Lesley every morning, before going to school. I would call for her on a daily basis. I quite often sat and I chatted to her Mum, Anne, whilst Lesley would still be getting ready.

LOL on one occasion, I went to call for Lesley and I sat down in the kitchen as usual, merrily chatting away to her Mum. Then suddenly, there was raucous laughter coming from behind me. I turned around only to see someone who looked identical to Anne, in absolute hysterics.  I had no idea that I had been chatting to her identical twin sister. It was so funny at the time.  πŸ˜œ πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

A wonderful memory of such lovely friendsπŸ‘«πŸ‘« :)

Hooray For "Returnships" :)

Good news on International Womens Day.  ☺

It was extremely difficult for me to return to work after being a full-time mother to my daughters for a few years. My ex-husband was a shift worker and it was awkward for me to go out to work at the time. We made a conscious decision between us, for me to have a career break whilst the children were young, therefore I gave up paid employment for a few years, during which time i put a little back into the community by working in a volunteer capacity at the local pre-school both of my children attended. When the children were older,  I eventally went back to work part time, before becoming a full-time worker again. I also took a number of college courses in order to update my qualifications, before I retuned to the work force again.

I am extremely pleased that our Prime Minister, Theresa May has recognised the difficulties many women face when returning back to the work force, after they have cared for their children. It was a very stressful time for me to say the least, as I was also going through divorce at the time.

Hooray for 'Returnships' ☺

There's Nothing Wrong With Disciplne!

Of course I believe in discipline, particularly when bringing up children. I believe in teaching them right from wrong, but in a loving and caring manner. What I do not believe in, is putting the fear of God in a child for doing wrong. I do not believe in making a child fearful, harming a child or hurting a child.

I do not believe in mental abuse either.

No way!

I love my children to the moon and back. :)

Disciplining your child is NOT the same as bullying!  Discipline shows that you love and care for your child. Bullying is soul destroying.

It's not what you do, it's the way in which you do it that matters.

SmileyRoseFrances x

Hugging (((((((Hugs))))))

Hugging all of those who have ever suffered at the hands of bullies xxxx

SmileyRoseFrances x

Please Join Hands With Me. Let's Stop Bullying!

If there is one thing that I cannot stand, it is bullying! I do not condone bullying. Bullying should not be tolerated and it is about time people came together to stop this once and for all.

Whether it is in the work place, at school or in your personal life, bullying can destroy the souls of the nicest of people. They can can wake up shaking and confused because they feel frightened to say anything in fear they might be bullied even more.

I was bullied so I understand how this can effect people.  I also know a few people who have suffered at the hands of bullies. Quite often bullying starts because of jealousy or someone wanting power over someone else.

If you are quiet and introverted, you can sometimes be bullied by those who are more confident/harder/extroverted than you. It is a cowards way of dealing with situations. Shame on those who bully!

It is not only about being physically bullied, some people are mentally abused too. This is equally as bad! Shame on you who bully! People who do this are the absolute pits of the earth and they should feel ashamed of themselves. They often pick on others for absolutely no reason at all, or because someone isn't licking their boots!!!!

Stop this now!

If you know someone who you think is being bullied, help them. We should all stick together and help our adults and our young who are being bullied.  Nobody should have to suffer bullying.

Let's get rid of the bullies now !!!!

Let's all join hands today, like the Great Wall of China and let's stop bullying once and for all!!!!! Please help get rid of the bullies.

"What" or "Pardon" Which Sounds More Polite? ☺

When I visit another country,  I do not expect people who live abroad to always understand me, particularly when their main language is different to mine. It is wonderful that many people from abroad do try to help and accommodate me during my visits, by speaking in English to me. I tend to take a phrase book with me sometimes, it helps me if I need it or I google what I need to know.

There are a number of people living abroad who are so very welcoming and I thank them for their kindness. I have lived abroad, when my Father was in the Royal Airforce.  However, when we live in England and we speak English in this country, I do expect people who reside here permenantly, to understand me, unless of course they are only visiting the country during a holiday.

I am quite clear and precise in my speech. It annoys me when some people keep saying "What!".....Some of them are English!  If you did not catch what I said the first time, it is polite to say "Pardon."

I am sorry if you have hearing difficulties, i am very understanding in such cases. I have a family member who has hearing problems too, therefore I am fully aware of the difficulties it can cause.  However you still need to be patient with me, because it strains my voice/throat if I try raising/straining my voice too much!  I have problems too.

The answer here is, to be more understanding of each other, but I am never rude!

Rant over. I am still enjoying my week off though. 😊

Not A Smiling Matter. Just Thinking About My Father

Just thinking out aloud. Those who have worked hard for all of their lives, or who receive a good pension because they made contributions, all deserve the best care that money can buy when they find themselves no longer able to care for themselves and they are put into a home.

However, I disagree that those who own their own homes, they have worked hard for all of their lives, that they should have to pay a large percentage from the sale of their homes and any saving they may have, in order to pay for the same care that someone who has never worked, or owned their own property, should have to pay.

Surely we should be encouraging people to go out and work, if only for their future. I have nothing against those who genuinely want to work, but you have to admit, there are a number out there who do nothing to help themselves into the work force, because they would rather not work. How ludicrous is it becoming?  What's the point? You may as well sell your homes and go around the world before you become too old to do so.

Help me out please someone, because I am trying to see the 'for' and 'against' going out to work for a living.   :(

Ps This does not include those folk who cannot work due to disabilities.

A Mother's Perspective :) I'm A Mother!

You can usually tell when a man likes/votes for something! Quite often it is because he's sexually attracted by it or it has something to do with War films/cowboy films etc. I like some of those things too, but from a Mother's perspective. 😁😁😁

I'm a Mother.

The Great Wall

What a fabulous film. The film is Directed by Yimou Zhang. 'The Great Wall’ of China took 1700 years to build and is 5500 miles long. Hmm was it built to keep the monsters out and to stop them from feeding on its defenders perhaps?  An elite group of warriors battle to protect ‘The Great Wall’....Their only way of stopping defeat is to find the Queen and to kill her. The film stars Matt Damon and Willem Dafoe. ☺

I remember visiting Hong Kong and China a number of years ago, when I was 26 yrs old to be precise. I also visited the Song Dynasty.

http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/nsong/hd_nsong.htm

It was a wonderful place to visit. I met so many lovely people on that holiday. The Chinese and the Hong Kong people were so friendly and welcoming. I would love to return some day. Xx

Ps Everyone, go and watch the film, it's great! πŸ˜€ I have a few old  1986 photographs to post too...taken before the digital camera era, during my holiday to Hong Kong and China.πŸ˜€

Patriots Day

I have just been to watch this film with my daughter Catherine. I cried. It was very good.

Not A Spoiler!

The film told a true life documented story of the explosions during the Boston Marathon on April 15th, 2013. Police Sgt. Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg), FBI Special Agent Richard DesLauriers (Kevin Bacon) and Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman) were the courageous survivors, who first responded along with other investigators, in the manhunt to find the two suspects. The film was brilliantly directed by Peter Berg. I don't want to be a spoiler, therefore I will stop here.

Let's take the time to remember all of those victims who have been killed/seriously injured in terrorist attacks throughout the years. My thoughts are with all of the families who all struggle with their daily lives to have to come to terms with such tragedies.

My thoughts are also with all of those people ie., the emergency services, who during such major incidents, they all work hard and they strive to their best in such difficult situations. There are some extremely brave people out there.

During a visit to Nice, France with my daughter Lauren last year, we walked in the area where many were killed during the terrosist attacks, just weeks prior to our visit. We read a number of tributes and memorial cards during a very sombre walk one afternoon. My eyes were filled with tears. I was deeply saddened by what I saw. No words can describe my sadness.

Finally, let's not forget that terrorism kills innocent victims, it is cruel to take the precious lives of innocent people in this manner.
