A Day Out In Birmingham :)

I had a great day out with friends, in Birmingham. Our day began with a bottle of Prosecco and a croissant on the train #GirlyGiggles 😀

When we arrived in Birmingham we hit the shops straight away, well after heading for the loo first ; ) Shops:  Pandora, Warren James, Primark and New Look to name just a few.

We later stopped off at the Jamie Oliver restaurant for lunch. My lasagne was lovely. Julie and Sally then surprised me with a very early birthday present, It was totally unexpected!! I was lost for words for a change #Tears. They only went and bought me the earrings and the necklace I'd thought of buying for myself (at a later stage), to match the bangle I'd just bought!!!! #ThankYouBoth #SoLovely  #Wicked:)

After a few more hours looking around some more shops, we were all ready to drop! Yes the phrase 'Shop Til You Drop' really did apply. ;)

We decided to catch the train home. Only we'd realized we'd been sitting at the wrong platform and we almost missed our train home!!!! 😀

When we finally boarded the train, there were crowds of football supporters who were blocking the way to our seats (which were paid for). Julie had to push some of the guys just to get us onto the train!!!! On our journey home, at one stage, I thought I was going to faint! It was that bad. Half of the guys had not even purchased a ticket!!!!

We did eventually got to our seats, however we were almost back in Peterborough by this time!!!!!

I met some friendly and nice people today. I loved Birmingham for shopping. It was just a shame about the train journey home.  :)

Thank you to Pete, Sally's other half, for taking us to and picking us up from the train Station #SoVeryKind

I had a fabulous day. Thank you so much ladies.  xxxx  😊😊😊

Thank You!

These past few days have been filled with loved ones.....all of my nearest and dearests.

Thank you to ALL who joined us in celebrating my Father's life. I was overwhelmed by all of those people who joined us at the Church service on Thursday. Xxxxx

It was a very sombre day indeed, however thank you to everyone for making one of the hardest days of my life, so far, a joyous farewell to a man I loved and cherished. It was comforting to know that Dad had a number of friends and family who all came together to say their farewells.  You all helped to ease my sorrows.

Special acknowledgement to: family members Marion and my sister Charmaine, to those at St George's Church, Andrew Woodhouse Funeral directors, Mandy's Flower Shop, the staff at the Crown Hotel Stamford. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you all for your donations to Dementia UK.

Kind regards

The first Man I Ever Loved.........

I don't have a partner currently, therefore my Father sometimes provided me with the love, support, comfort and the advice I needed, from a male perspective. But when he is no longer.....:(

Your Father is usually the first man you ever love. Xx

My Father Had A Career In The RAF. So Proud. Lest We Forget.

When I look at photographs such as the one (below), it always makes me feel so proud. My Father was a retired RAF personnel. He did his full service in the Royal Air Force before retiring in the 1980's. His last posting was RAF North Luffenham.

Growing up as a Scale-E Brat meant that I got to tour with my Father. Some of the countries we resided at were quite exotic.

I loved experiencing the different cultures whist we lived abroad. It was a fine way to grow up.

Some of the places my Father was based at, during his RAF career:

Bedford
Grimsby
Singapore
Penang, Mayasia
Netherhaven, Salisbury, Wiltshire
Old Sarum, Salisbury, Wiltshire
Episcopi, Cyprus
North Luffenham, Rutland
Leeming, North Yorkshire
Wyton, Cambridgeshire
North Luffenham, Rutland

RIP Dad. 3rd May 1932 - 28th March 2017

After my father retired from the Royal Air Force, he went to work for the Bank of England, London.
